We are delighted to announce that Marea is among the winning projects of the 13th Italian Council for International Publication on Nemesiache, edited by researcher and curator Sonia D'Alto and published by Mousse Magazine & Publishing. The publication will be the first monograph dedicated to the artistic and feminist group, founded by artist Lina Mangiacapre in 1970 and active mainly between Naples, Sorrento, and the Amalfi Coast.

The intention is to provide an accurate historical reconstruction with unpublished and archived images and a selection of the collective's posters and excerpts of poems and critical texts by Lina Mangiacapre. The group's long-term engagement with art and feminism includes film, performance, writing, painting, poetry, music, collage and costumes, and occupations designed to reappropriate spaces for female creativity. In the project, essays commissioned from female researchers and artists involved with the history of the collective propose an eco-feminist reinterpretation of the activities of the Madre, addressing the ‘southern question’ that is still not discussed within Italian feminisms.

The publication will be presented at the Museo Madre (Naples), the Centro Pecci (Prato), EURO-MEDITERRANEAN ARTS (Naples), the MACTE Museum (Termoli), AWARE Archives of Women Artists, Research and Exhibitions (Paris), Ifa Gallery (Berlin), NW Open House for Contemporary Art and Film (Aalst - Belgium) and Kunsthuis SYB (Beetsterzwaag, Netherlands).

The project is realized thanks to the support of the Direzione Creatività Contemporanea of the Ministry of Culture within the Italian Council Program 13th Edition.
