We are thrilled to announce that the Flash Art Italia Award has nominated Marea as one of the best independent spaces in Italy.
In collaboration with Arte Fiera Bologna, Flash Art Italia Award was created to become the leading Italian award dedicated to contemporary art, offering a broad and articulated recognition of the entire art ecosystem in Italy. The prize is dedicated to independent spaces that have significantly influenced the contemporary art scene by offering original and quality programming.
It is wonderful to share this horizon with eleven other spaces. Among cities such as Milan, Turin, Brescia, Venice, Florence, Bologna, Rome and Lecce is Praiano, a village of 2000 inhabitants in southern Italy. We thank Flash Art and the jury for including Marea and the territory we operate on the map beyond the large centers and pre-established art routes.
We are sure that the marginal positioning of our reality, like many other projects operating in inland areas, can broaden narratives and outline a new perspective from which to observe the world.
This recognition would not have been possible without Carol LeWitt, Stefano Collicelli Cagol, and all the tides that have moved the waters with us over time, expanding our breath and creating community alliances near and far. In the meantime, we celebrate this nomination, whose final outcome will be revealed on February 7, 2025, at Cinema Modernissimo in Bologna, in collaboration with Arte Fiera Bologna.
